Alex Cunningham

Alex Cunningham is a member of the Strategic Product Management team at BlackRock. He is responsible for providing regulatory and strategic advice to the firm in relation to the structuring, launch and range management of all BlackRock and iShares funds in EMEA. He acts as an internal expert on product-related structuring and regulation and leads fund board and regulatory interactions on product-related matters. Alex works across the full range of asset classes, fund types and jurisdictions, but has a key focus on alternatives. He has wide experience of alternative asset classes and the European regulatory landscape, sits on the Irish Funds Real Economy Investment Working Group and chairs a sub-group of the UK Investment Association on long-term asset funds. Alex is a qualified lawyer and before joining BlackRock worked in private practice at international law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP, advising managers, sponsors and investors across a range of fund structures. He also spent six months as a secondee at Aviva Investors. Alex studied Law at Durham University and completed his legal practice course at BPP Law School, London.
