MiFID II Q&A seminar

Josiane specialises in all types of investment fund-related matters, for both traditional and alternative funds. She advises major international fund houses and asset managers, including U.S. and Asia-based clients.

As a highly experienced and versatile funds lawyer, Josiane advises on everything from the setting up of funds, eligible investments and investment restrictions to fund mergers (both domestic and international), demergers, liquidations and restructurings.

She has particular expertise on funds set up under the Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) directives. She has assisted many funds and fund management companies on the necessary requirements from successive UCITS directives.

Florence Stainier is a Partner in the Investment Management practice of Arendt & Medernach S.A. where she specialises in legal and regulatory matters related to investment funds and management entities. She advises clients on the creation, structuring, marketing and operations of investment funds with a particular focus on UCITS, alternative UCITS, hedge funds and ETFs. She is participating in several working groups of the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) in particular relating to MIFID, Islamic finance and UCITS matters. Florence is a member of the Luxembourg Bar.

Olivia Tournier-Demal is the Managing Director of the MJ Hudson third party AIFM, and also director of selected management companies and funds.

Before becoming an independent director and establishing MJ Hudson AIFM, she worked 5 years as Head of Legal and Distribution at the “Super ManCo” of Lombard Odier Investment Managers, that she participated to set-up and develop. Prior to that, Olivia worked more than 10 years as a lawyer in top tier International and Luxembourg law firms (Landwell & Associés, Arendt and Loyens & Loeff), in the investment management as well as M&A and tax departments. Overall, she has been structuring, establishing and developing fund businesses in Luxembourg for 18 years.

Olivia holds a Master degree in Commercial and Business Law (Maîtrise) from the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas (France) and a Postgraduate Research Degree (Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies) in Economic and Tax Law from the University Paris I Sorbonne (France). She was graduated from the Paris Ecole de Formation des Barreaux in 1999 and was a member of the Paris and Luxembourg Bar until 2010.

Olivia is permanent member of ILA and ALFI where she heads the Working Groups of MIFID-Inducements and of ManCo-Ecosystems.

Alastair Woodward has 25+ years’ experience in the asset management industry. Until 2018, he was a Conducting Officer and the Head of Risk Management EMEA at Schroders, prior to which he held the same role at Aberdeen Asset Management. Alastair also worked as a Director in the Investment Management Advisory Practice at Deloitte and at JP Morgan Asset Management. In 2019, he took a career break to complete the Advanced Management Program and Entrepreneurship Development Program at the MIT Sloan School of Management before joining Next Gate Tech.
